Located in the middle of Changkat Bukit Bintang, a street where there's a plethora of drinking spots to choose from as well as up-scaled restaurants serving western cuisine. Though I have yet to try anything besides the drinks at Changkat, I was invited to check out The Steakhouse, the newest kid on the block to join the fray.
Established by German Chef expatriate Werner Kuhn, The Steakhouse is able to accommodate up to 40 people in it's restaurant, notably The Whisky Bar is located right next to it, which gives it an advantage of having a larger selection of cocktails, fine wines and liquors as compared to if it were by itself.
As the name suggests, The Steakhouse is a Steakhouse that serves steaks. What kind of steaks you ask?
You have a choice of either Grain Fed Australian Beef or Aged Black Angus beef, which is also imported from Australia as well
The Black Angus Cattle
One of the main advantages of picking Angus Black Angus is that it develops better marbling than most cattles. (the general consensus is that marbling improves the flavor, tenderness and retains it's moist while being cooked)
After picking your choice of meat, you'll be presented with a choice of 5 different cuts - medallion, tenderloin, rib-eye, T-bone or Striploin. After which you'll choose the sauce (Bernaise, Black Pepper, Red Wine, Barbecue and Mushroom). And finally your style of potatoes (Fried, Mashed, Sauteed)
All cuts are grilled over charcoal, a popular Argentinia style of cooking.
So without further ado, here are some of The Steakhouse's offering
The Yamazaki Whisky served with a round block of ice, which was very aesthetically pleasing. Though I've never tried any Japanese whisky before, (this being my first one) It was warm, smooth and sweet at the same time.
STARTERS
Shrimp Cocktail
My favorite starter of the evening, the cocktail sauce was simply mouth watering and the amount of shrimps given was very generous.

Escargot Baked with garlic, herbs and butter
though some people may have qualms about consuming snails, due to it's nature of crawling all over gardens and whatnots, escargots aren't simply snatched up from their habitat and thrown in the kitchen to be cooked, one of the process of preparing them requires a 2 week 'ritual' which the snails are put in a 'purging' cycle which the snails discard all their toxins and other 'undesirable' elements. Think of it as a 2 week spa vacation for the snails to 'detoxify' themselves, which will then be cooked after the end of their holiday.

Fresh Live Oyster on ice with Shallot-Wine Vinaigrette

Oyster Rockefeller
Made with spinach, fine herbs and Pernod.

A closer look at the Rockerfellers

Panfried Duck Foie Gras
Served with fine bean & orange segments, another one of my favorite starter dish, it felt very rich and buttery upon putting it into my mouth. RECOMMENDED DISH
MAIN COURSE
The choice of sauces available for the picking :
Black Pepper, Red Wine, Mushroom, Bearnaise, Barbecue and Mushroom
2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Australian Red Wine
The chose this wine to pair with my main course;
Black Angus Steak in Medallion Cut
Prepared medium-rare, among all the cuts that I tried at the place, it was definitely the juiciest and tenderest among the ones we tried. Just recalling it's taste waters my mouth. Well worth it's price in my opinion RECOMMENDED
Grain-Fed Striploin Steak
Black Angus Steak Tenderloin
New Zealand Lamb Chops
Black Angus Rib Eye cut
Grilled Cod Fish
Served with parsley, potato, mushroom and creamy wasabi pesto sauce. The wasabi pesto sauce was definitely a unique sauce!
Desserts
Andreas Special | Mango Sherbet Icecream | Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream
Who doesn't love a good chocolate fondue? This particular chocolate was made with melted dark chocolates. Though I would preferred if it was slightly richer. The sponge finger biscuits definitely went well with the dip, there was a generous amount of orange, apples and strawberries on the sides too
Classic Italian Tiramisu
A really good tiramisu dessert that came with a small touch of mango sauce for the tangy finish. RECOMMENDED
Baked Cheese Cake
Served with a side of Vanilla Ice-cream and Blueberry sauce. Didn't particularly enjoy this one, the Tiramisu before this spoiled my taste buds I think.
So there you have it, I probably put on a few kilograms after this review but it was damn worth it in my opinion. If you have the chance, do give the The Steakhouse @ Changkat a try and give the Black Angus steaks a go. Be sure to check out their extensive wine list as well.
